1. iRobot S8
This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is a fantastic choice for many homes. It can be used to vacuum and mop, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of controls and features available via the app. It also has a handy feature that allows you to create Cleaning zones for specific areas that require more attention, and also to keep Out zones where you don't want it to be. It also receives software updates, similar to all Roomba products, that enhance it over time.
It's costly however, it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It comes with a powerful battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours. It also switches between mopping and vacuuming with the push of one button. It will automatically empty the bin of dust above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after every run.
It also has many other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes cameras and processor-powered smarts to identify obstacles. It rarely gets derailed or trapped during a cleaning process, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. However, it isn't as accurate in detecting pet waste and other dangers.
2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Eufy, owned by Anker It has become an established brand in the world of budget robot vacuums. However, it didn't offer the option of a model that could mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of features that are advanced and is able to compete with more expensive models.
The laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 uses the laser mapping system, which is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to create an accurate map of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.
The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It is able to easily throw debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are efficient at grabbing edges and corners. It's not a great kitty litter eater, however our tests have shown it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.
There's a basic mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming. While this is good for loose spills but you cannot control how much water it consumes, which will limit its effectiveness on more serious stains. It's effective at picking up hair from pets. It has a higher pick-up rate than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, a great navigation system and a powerful cleaning power. However, it does have a few operational oddities that keep it from ranking as the best overall smart robot vacuum.
The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping technique which uses LIDAR to map a room, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room has been defined it is possible to assign virtual no go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also manually change cleaning options, begin cleaning manually or watch a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.
The RX2's sensors work well by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are outstanding, effectively removing surface litter from medium pile carpeting as well as dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robot on the market. As with many others it's not a very good climber and has trouble with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

This combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum off steps makes it one our most flexible vacuums.
It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation capabilities were impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the read more competition, and it picked up 98.5% of pet hair from our laboratory test samples.
The controls are more basic than those of competitors. There's an uniform cleaning button on the top and you can access it via the app, or by voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones, and look up its cleaning history. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible for emptying, and removing the filters is also easy.
5. Eufy 11S
If you're looking to buy a basic low-cost robot vacuum for a reasonable cost, the Eufy 11S is a great option. It doesn't have many of the more advanced features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models but if you don't need these functions, you can save a little cost with this model.
This robot is easy to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does have the ability to control the remote with a remote that lets you choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. In our tests, the 11S was very effective at cleaning dirt and pet hair from hard floors and in carpets with a low pile. Like other robots, the 11S will take in some objects, such as cords hoodie drawstrings, and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these objects off the ground and by using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends that you regularly clean the dustbin, change the filters, and wash or change the brushes as needed.
6. iRobot Roomba 980
The Roomba is the flagship model of iRobot's robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's top-performing and is arguably the most sophisticated robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It has more advanced automation than its competitors, including the ability to create virtual boundary markers with its mobile application. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.
We really like the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to store your home's floor plan. It then uses the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than many high-end robotics.
